New to me Mushroom Dyebooks!

The book on the right (which is available at woolery.com), I traded for on a Facebook mushroom/lichen trading post group. I’m glad I did as the price on Woolery is $30. It’s got some interesting pictures and hopefully new info but I’m happy the price for me was the price of mailing some dried mushrooms….

My Dye Books

Here’s an updated list of the physical books about dyes in my library.  This does not include digitally scanned books or research papers. There’s a lot of that and a proper bibliography would take days, if not weeks. Perhaps a winter project. ClaireleDeyare_DyeBibliography

Adventures in Food…Part 2

I don’t do a lot of pickling, but when I do…no, we’ll get to that later. I used to think pickles were pickles and they all were kinda the same. I like dill, I don’t like sweet, no spicy please. And what is with that giant pickle at the Renn Faire? (hint: electrolytes, it’s good…

Adventures in Food…Part 1

Once again I have procrastinated, but in a way that is fruitful (Oh here we go with food puns already)because it is all stuff I can talk about together! But it’s long, so two posts. I spent most of the summer with misdiagnosed pain in my right hand, so a lot of crafting didn’t happen…

Mushroom Dyeing!

Finally getting around to posting about this, and soooo much more I could say. It was the most amazing nerdy day ever! In March, I got to spend about 6 hours learning about mushroom dyeing and all the reasons I may have not gotten results with certain…

Apothecary Guild Charter Scroll

As they say…and now for something completely different. Probably the first art craft I   ever tried and stuck with as a kid was watercolours, and the SCA gouache paint isn’t much different. And while somethings defy my ability to draw (animals, people), I seem to be alright at drawing plants and buildings. A good…

Wool Combs

Alllll the way back in October (yes, I’m that bad), I entered the nearby Barony of Three Mountain’s Arts & Sciences Competition. The emphasis was on something new to you. Since one of my main arts is handbound books, I have been getting into woodworking, and figuring out what hand tools I need. For the…

An Tir/West War

This slightly less procrastinating post now brought to you by the iPhone app! I hate posting without pictures and I take most pictures with my phone so there we are.  This year the event ran Tuesday July 4th-Sunday the 9th and I had a rather busy and full event. It was also my dog’s third…

Collegium 2016 and the Yule that didn’t happen…

Didn’t Collegium just happen? No, that was Christmas. Well snap. I also do have a new excuse, since the beginning of November, I have a JOB again! It has been nearly 3 years. I work part time at the Knotty Lamb, a yarn store three towns over from where I live. That sounds like far,…
